Job Description
We're seeking an exceptional leader to join our team as a Department Head - Hockey Retail. As a key member of our store leadership team, you'll be responsible for delivering an outstanding customer experience, leading your team to success, and driving business results.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute PHL's Brand Purpose to the highest capability.
- Manage all promo and pricing standards.
- Build and oversee product flow, merchandising plans, and overall presentation standards.
- Protect Company Assets.
- Uphold all Company & Business Compliance expectations.
- Become a Community Ambassador partnering with local MHA's.
- Ability to manage capacity and change management initiatives.
Customer Service
We champion and deliver Pro Hockey Life's Customer Experience Model across the entire Store Team. Our goal is to provide a fully accessible and easily shoppable experience for all customers.
- Ensure floor plan is a fully accessible and easily shoppable experience.
- Execute and maintain PHL pricing and promotion strategies.
- Ensure Staff Onboarding is delivered to the company's expectation.
- Become an Ambassador of Canadian Tire's Triangle Rewards Program.
- Provide continuous feedback and coaching to Store Teams using Store Force Reporting, Daily Huddles, and formal performance evaluation programs.
Store Operations
We expect flawless execution of PHL's visual compliance standards, store maintenance, and pricing standards. Effectively utilizing meet all store operating initiatives and directives according to required timelines is essential.
- Establish plan and follows up on execution of weekly price changes and department POP as per weekly communication.
- Establish efficient process to maintain product flow from the warehouse onto the sales floor.
- Complete weekly price sweeps and pricing audits to ensure 100% compliance with PHL audit.
- Follows and ensures compliance of all corporate LP, Cash and Store Audit Compliance, and OH&S policies and procedures.
Training
You'll be responsible for coaching and developing store staff through setting expectations, communication, coaching, feedback, and ongoing support. Your role will include following up to ensure execution of Weekly Plans for the store.
- Create development plans and conduct annual appraisals for Part Time staff members; support and coach to improve any performance gaps.
- Communicate in a clear and concise manner; leading effective Huddles/Meetings/Coaching sessions.
- Ensure PHL staff have understanding of department maintenance standards and general merchandising.
- Provide resolution for all customer concerns.
Leadership
You'll continually motivate team and performance through recognition programs, store contests, customer compliments, and compensation. Maintain PHL performance management expectations (feedback/coaching); this includes progressive discipline where necessary.
- Promotes and maintains a positive and motivating work environment.
- Provides mentorship to teams and influences continuous growth.
- Sponsors encourage to support community engagement efforts.

You should be a proven leader and mentor with exceptional communication skills and organizational skills. You'll have a proven ability to build and manage daily store execution plan and be an organized individual with understanding of compliance management.
