Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented On Call Visual Merchandiser to join our team at Rogers Communications. As a key member of our broadcasting and scenic design department, you will be responsible for executing and presenting sets and products in a manner that enhances sales and meets the high standards of our dynamic team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Visually merchandise all products in a clear and enticing manner, ensuring customers can see exactly what they will be purchasing, what the offer includes, and what style options are available.
  • Work with staging partners to review show priorities and discuss set plan information provided by scenic design associates and scenic/staging managers.
  • Collaborate with scenic design associates to ensure vision is implemented on set, assist with styling and scenic when necessary, and work with the planning department on scripting challenges and necessary scripting adjustments during shifts.
  • Assist vendors, on-air guests, and show room staff with studio set up, product, supplies, and props while in the studio and during live broadcasts.
  • Ensure proper sign out of any items worn by hosts and guests, and maintain a professional conduct while assisting all hosts, guests, models, planners, and stylists in a fast-paced environment.
  • Work with the crew to obtain preview shots or other product shots as needed, and ensure all product set ups are camera-ready, in working order, and displayed in a manner to enhance sales.
  • Be available during set changes for last-minute adjustments, and ensure the background of the set is free of clutter.
  • Strike the set, which includes moving furniture to and from the sets, and ensure sets are neat and larger props are stored properly in our prop storage.
  • Furniture management in prop storage involves pulling, lifting, and pushing furniture, and may require contact with individuals outside the organization to obtain information.
  • Load and unload showroom and props carts as necessary, complete damage reports and missing reports, and daily shift feedback reports.
Requirements
  • Diploma in Broadcast Production, Visual Presentation, or Theatre Arts.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in broadcast, visual merchandising, or theatre production, with a portfolio presentation of previous projects may be requested.
  • Previous retail visual merchandising experience required, with experience working with models and talent, as well as on and off figure styling preferred.
  • Creative ability and knowledge of display techniques and composition basics are required, with the ability to apply these theories to enhance displays on set.
  • Detail-oriented and excellent time management skills, with the ability to work in high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to stand and walk for the majority of the shift, as well as wear a broadcast headset for up to 8 hours.
  • Ability to learn rapidly, multi-task, and adapt to changes, while maintaining an organized and positive environment.
  • Heavy lifting, pushing, and pulling of up to 40 lbs is required daily, as well as bending and reaching, and use of ladders may also be required.
  • Ability to work quickly and effectively in a team environment despite obstacles and time pressures.
  • Flexible schedule, available to work with short notice, on holidays, evenings, and weekends.
  • Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision, and knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Microsoft Office is an asset.
