About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead our team in delivering complex projects across various sectors and locations in Western and Northern Canada.

As a key member of our professional consulting services team, you will be responsible for executing large-scale projects with high complexity, ensuring timely delivery while driving innovation, technical excellence, and quality control.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and specify mechanical engineered systems or products for projects, utilizing strong knowledge of building codes, energy codes, ASHRAE standards, and industry norms.
  • Act as a technical advisor on complex issues, guiding staff towards effective solutions.
  • Engage in design development through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and visual formats, leveraging BIM technologies for three-dimensional modeling of mechanical systems.
  • Prepare and revise mechanical documentation across project phases, including reports, site plans, floor plans, diagrams, and details.
  • Lead project coordination meetings with internal teams, external consultants, owners, contractors, sub-contractors, and vendors, ensuring seamless collaboration.
  • Participate in client project requirement meetings, value analysis, and basic cost estimation, contributing to successful project outcomes.
  • Develop and implement new standards and specifications for the mechanical group, enhancing overall efficiency.
  • Create project scope, budgets, and design approaches for diverse types and scales of projects, effectively managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Foster strong client relationships through proactive business development and marketing efforts, coupled with exceptional project delivery.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of mechanical and/or plumbing codes, energy codes, ASHRAE standards, and other building codes and standards.
  • Demonstrate strong understanding of building mechanical systems, including HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Protection, and Building Controls.
  • Showcase expertise in project document production, drawing relationships, and specification development.
  • Exhibit strong knowledge of mechanical systems, means, methods, materials, and industry standards.
  • Hold experience designing high-performance and sustainable buildings, with a focus on LEED-certified and Net Zero Carbon and Energy projects.
  • Able to lead teams through project document production, with proficiency in professional services procurement processes, consultant contracts, and construction contracts.
  • Accurately check work for accuracy and completeness, manage time to meet project budget and schedule, and participate in creative and critical thought in project settings.
  • Demonstrate creativity, foresight, and mature engineering judgment in anticipating and solving problems.
  • Understand mechanical engineering concepts, communicate ideas effectively, and possess excellent Microsoft Office Suite, Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Adobe Acrobat skills.
