About the Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Occupational Therapist to join our team at Nova Scotia Health. As an Occupational Therapist, you will work collaboratively with clients, caregivers, and family members to facilitate, restore, and maintain optimal levels of function in areas such as self-care, productivity, and leisure.

The successful candidate will provide consultation, assessment, treatment, evaluation, and follow-up services while working within the hospital, client's home, and/or community. You will establish individualized treatment plans and goals, manage a busy caseload, and utilize clinical judgment and decision-making skills to prioritize issues on a daily basis.

Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills are required, as you will provide education and support to clients, families, and caregivers. You will also function as a member of an occupational therapy clinical team and a multidisciplinary hospital and/or community healthcare team.

About You
  • Bachelor of Science or equivalent in Occupational Therapy
  • Licensure with the provincial regulatory body, the College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia, is mandatory
  • One year related experience required (if no applicants meet the one year experience required, applicants with less than one year's experience may be considered)
  • Experience working within a Primary Health Care setting/community-based team/community setting required, experience with chronic pain, etc., is an asset
  • Experience with individual and group education/facilitation utilizing adult education, self-management supports, and motivational enhancement principles; experience working with people with chronic disease
  • BLS-C
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to facilitate education programs and interact positively with patients/clients, families, other healthcare providers, and staff
  • Commitment to promoting a culture of respect that supports safety, ethical practices, cultural awareness, and organizational health
About You Cont.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, while effectively planning, organizing, and supervising
  • Ability to be flexible and adjust to the changing needs of the service and the program/facility
  • Must be able to work alone or with team members in all service settings
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
Hours
  • Permanent full-time position; 75 hours bi-weekly
  • Shifts include days, nights, and weekends
  • Travel to various sites may be required
Compensation and Benefits

$33.96 - $42.89 Hourly

Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
