Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Security Guard to join our team at Paladin Security. As a key member of our municipal protection unit, you will play a vital role in maintaining the safety and security of our community.

Responsibilities
  • Respond to and report all incidents of criminal activity, suspicious behavior, and hazardous situations in a timely and professional manner.
  • Assist with the relocation of bus stops and conduct patrols around temporary stops to ensure commuter safety and provide exceptional customer service.
  • Unlock and lock doors, provide access control, and maintain a visible security presence to deter prohibited acts such as loitering, panhandling, smoking, alcohol use, skateboarding, and cycling on platforms and driveways.
  • Perform proactive patrols of terminal stops, platforms, lobbies, and customer service areas to identify potential security risks and address policy breaches.
  • Conduct investigations into security alarms and emergencies, attending and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner without causing public panic.
  • Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons, ensuring compliance with security protocols.
  • Ability to de-escalate crisis situations, provide support, and liaise with emergency personnel including police, fire, and paramedic services.
  • Log in/out of Key, Radio, and pager audits, handle Lost & Found items, and report any unsafe working conditions.
  • Provide first aid and medical response when required to any person(s), responding to all types of occurrences.
Requirements
  • Minimum Two (2) year Security Guard experience in a municipal government or corporate environment is an asset.
  • Post-Secondary education in a related field would be beneficial.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, along with strong customer service skills, are essential for success in this role.
  • A valid Security License for the Province of Ontario is mandatory.
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification is also required.
  • Physical demands include excessive walking, standing, exposure to all weather conditions, and extreme temperatures.
  • Utilize two-way radio and computer applications, demonstrating excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Bilingual and Multilingual applicants are preferred, but not necessary.
  • Must participate in professional development and on-site leveling system requirements.
