About the Role

The University Health Network is seeking a skilled Communicative Disorders Assistant to join our therapy team. As an integral member of the team, you will play a vital role in providing communication therapy, leading group therapy sessions, and supporting patients with mealtime assistance and dining programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Communication therapy and group therapy leadership
  • Facilitation of mealtime assistance and dining programs
  • Organizing volunteers and supporting setup and take down of endoscopy equipment
  • Therapeutic feeding and interaction with patients
  • Creation of communication devices and displays
  • Assisting therapists in treatment sessions and educating patients and caregivers
  • Collaborating with therapists on equipment and material arrangement
  • Participating in team meetings and committees

Qualifications

  • Post-graduate diploma in Communicative Disorders Assistant or equivalent
  • Teaching or clinical experience with non-speaking and/or physically disabled persons
  • Skilled in programming of speech generating devices (SGDs)
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to construct communication displays
