Job Summary

The Communicative Disorder Assistant provides direct clinical care to patients with communication and dysphagia needs, supporting Speech Language Pathologists in developing and implementing treatment plans.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide therapy and support to patients with communication and swallowing disorders
  • Collaborate with SLPs to develop and implement treatment plans
  • Conduct dysphagia screenings and provide education to patients and families
  • Collect and analyze data on patient outcomes
  • Work collaboratively with healthcare teams to ensure safe and quality care

Requirements

  • Related diploma or degree and Communication Disorders Assistant Graduate Certificate
  • Knowledge and training in augmentative communication and special communication devices
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Valid Ontario Driver's License and access to own transportation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Membership with the Communicative Disorders Assistant Association of Canada and/or Speech-Language & Audiology Canada
  • 1-3 years of experience as a CDA
  • Experience working with stroke populations
