Job Title: Deaf and Hard of Hearing Resource Teacher

The Burnaby School District is seeking a qualified Deaf and Hard of Hearing Resource Teacher to join our team.

About the Role:

This is a temporary position to June 2025, working 0.4FTE. The successful candidate will provide support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, working closely with teachers and other staff to ensure these students receive the best possible education.

About the District:

The Burnaby School District is the fourth largest in BC, operating 41 elementary and secondary schools. We are committed to providing a high-quality education to all students, regardless of their abilities or needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, including communication support and academic assistance.
  2. Work closely with teachers and other staff to develop and implement individualized education plans for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  3. Collaborate with other professionals, such as speech-language pathologists and audiologists, to ensure students receive comprehensive support.
  4. Participate in professional development opportunities to stay up-to-date on best practices in Deaf and Hard of Hearing education.
Requirements:

The successful candidate will have a strong background in Deaf and Hard of Hearing education, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills. A bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as education or special education, is required.
