Job Title: Deaf and Hard of Hearing Resource Teacher

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Deaf and Hard of Hearing Resource Teacher to join our team at School District #41 (Burnaby). The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support and resources to students who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Job Summary:

The Deaf and Hard of Hearing Resource Teacher will work closely with teachers, students, and parents to provide individualized support and accommodations to ensure students have equal access to education. The ideal candidate will have expertise in provision of alternate format instructional materials and specialized equipment, together with knowledge of technology and its application for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide individualized support and accommodations to students who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Work closely with teachers to develop and implement individualized education plans
  • Provide training and support to teachers on best practices for teaching Deaf and Hard of Hearing students
  • Collaborate with parents and other stakeholders to ensure students have equal access to education
  • Stay up-to-date with best practices and research in the field of Deaf and Hard of Hearing education
Requirements:
  • Bachelor or Education degree or academic equivalent
  • Masters degree or diploma in the education of the deaf and hard of hearing or certification by the Canadian Association of Educators of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CAEDHH)
  • Previous classroom teaching experience and hold or be eligible for a current valid B.C. Teaching Certificate
  • Expertise in provision of alternate format instructional materials and specialized equipment, together with knowledge of technology and its application for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students
  • A valid drivers license
