Avionics Lead Job Description

Heavy Aero Maintenance Centre is seeking an experienced Avionics Lead to join our team in Edmonton, Alberta. As an Avionics Lead, you will be responsible for leading a heavy maintenance program and ensuring the safe and compliant operation of aircraft electrical and electronic systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform all avionics maintenance on aircraft pitot static, communication, navigation, autopilot, flight director, flight management, ELT, and electrical systems in accordance with Transport Canada Regulations and Standards.
  • Perform modifications to previously mentioned avionic systems in accordance with manufacturers' service bulletins, engineering instructions, airworthiness directives, or Transport Canada-approved supplementary type certifications.
  • Ensure the proper certification of all components installed on aircraft.
  • Ensure timely and accurate Technical Record entries are completed as required.
  • Identify defects and ensure Service Difficulty Reports are submitted for avionics products in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure all applicable equipment is properly maintained and facilities are clean, safe, and appropriately equipped.
  • Provide mentorship and supervision of non-licensed personnel, ensuring that critical knowledge and workmanship is transferred to them.
  • Lead by example and be a positive role model for others to follow.
  • Perform other related activities as necessary or as assigned by management.
  • Actively participate in the Heavy Aero Safety Management System and Quality Assurance programs.
  • Respect and uphold all Company policies, procedures, and performance expectations.

Requirements:
  • Post-secondary education in a recognized Aircraft Maintenance/Avionics Engineer Program.
  • Valid Transport Canada Aircraft Maintenance Engineer 'E' License required.
  • One to three years of experience working as an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer in Avionics.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort:
  • Work involves exposure to unusual elements such as dirt, dust, fumes, extreme temperatures, humidity, darkness, and noise.
  • Work involves physical risks such as working around mechanical, chemical, and electrical hazards, which can be dangerous if not handled correctly.
  • Must be able to meet the physical tasks of the job, including standing, walking, wearing a respirator, climbing, pushing, pulling, lifting, working from heights, and confined spaces, etc.
