Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Youth Development Coordinator to join our team at the Cree Board of Health and Social Services of James Bay (CBHSSJB). This role is a vital part of our efforts to support the health and well-being of youth in our community.

About the Role

This position requires a highly motivated individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. As a Youth Development Coordinator, you will be responsible for providing culturally sensitive health and psychosocial awareness to youth and young adults in their settings. Your tasks will include establishing links and relationships with community members, acting as a mentor and counselor to encourage social inclusion and reduce unhealthy behavior, and developing links and maintaining effective working relationships with other community services and organizations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain relationships with community members, including youth, young adults, parents, and elders.
  • Act as a mentor and counselor to encourage social inclusion and reduce unhealthy behavior.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with other community services and organizations.
  • Maintain accurate activity reporting and statistical monitoring.
  • Participate actively in meetings, trainings, and evaluations.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A High School Diploma; Community health or health diploma would be an asset.
  • At least 2 years of experience working with youth.
  • Knowledge of Cree culture, traditions, and way of life.
  • Excellent liaison, networking, and advocacy skills.
  • Strong report writing, communication, and computer skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

We offer a competitive salary range of $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience.
