About the Role

This is a dynamic opportunity to join the Saskatchewan Polytechnic team as a Library Client Service Associate. The successful candidate will provide exceptional client service and support to our students, faculty, and staff.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Client Service
  • Greet and welcome clients to the library
  • Provide proactive client-focused service by anticipating client needs and ensuring the highest standards of client service are met
  • Respond to basic library reference help and document actions
Preparation and Support
  • Study products, services, and customer service processes to prepare for customer inquiries
  • Assist clients in signing materials in and out
  • Show clients how to use technology throughout the library
Events and Operations
  • Assist with events and tours under the direction of a supervisor
  • Shelving, sorting, and processing materials
  • Maintain attractive, welcoming, and inviting library spaces
Technical Assistance
  • Refer students to library resources to meet their needs
  • Provide technical assistance with library equipment and technology
  • Take payments for library fines and fees
Support and Development
  • Provide basic clerical support
  • Assist with client lab/study room bookings
  • Handle cash transactions

Requirements

  • Minimum six months experience in a customer service environment
  • Grade 12 with supplementary training or experience in technology
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Basic Internet skills
  • Basic working knowledge of computers and related office equipment
  • Effective oral communication skills, including basic telephone and customer service experience
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of automated system software (client databases, inventory, etc.)
  • Ability to work alone
  • Attention to detail
