Your Opportunity:

The Alberta Health Services is seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team in the vibrant Oilfields General Hospital, located in the beautiful Diamond Valley, Alberta. As an LPN in Acute Care, you will work in a Patient Family Centered Care environment, focusing on meeting the comprehensive and complex care needs of patients and their families in a home-like setting.

Description:

As a Licensed Practical Nurse, you will be part of an interprofessional healthcare team, utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level, and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family-centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive and complex care to patients and their families in a home-like setting.
  • Work collaboratively with a variety of disciplines, including RNs, Health Care Aides, Rehabilitation Staff, Recreation Therapy, Pharmacy, and Physicians.
  • Lead through assessment, planning, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of patient care.
  • Engage in health promotion, chronic disease management, and enhancing patient activities of daily living.

Requirements:

  • Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program.
  • Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA).
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
  • 1-year recent experience up to full-time equivalent in a similar acute care setting.
  • Demonstrated nursing experience in a leadership role.
  • Demonstrated time management and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as a member of a care team.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking, effective decision-making, and conflict resolution skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to tolerate constant walking, standing, kneeling, bending, reaching, and sustaining posture within a fast-paced unit.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull objects greater than 50lbs.
