Job Summary:

The YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated School Age Coordinator to join our team at the Alcona Glen YMCA location. As a key member of our childcare team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional care and education to children in our Before and After School program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide personal care to children, including toileting, first aid, and medication administration
  • Supervise and engage with children in a group setting, ensuring their safety and well-being
  • Plan and implement play-based learning activities in accordance with the YMCA Curriculum
  • Communicate effectively with families, staff, and volunteers to ensure a positive and inclusive environment
  • Support children with exceptional behaviors and additional needs
  • Adhere to YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to child safety and well-being
  • Work collaboratively with the childcare team to maintain a safe, accessible, and quality childcare environment
  • Develop positive relationships with families and provide support to meet their individual needs

Requirements:

  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR (Level C) certification
  • Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Up-to-date immunizations
  • Availability to work Monday to Friday, approximately 6:30-9:00am and 3:00-6:00pm, with some flexibility required
  • Passion for working with children and providing quality care and education
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 20 kg, and participate in physical activities
  • Registered Early Childhood Educator or actively enrolled in an Early Childhood Education program
