Key Responsibilities

  • Provide senior leadership and direction on all labour and employee relations activities, ensuring compliance with relevant employment legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Partner with the Office of Inclusive Communities and the Office of the General Counsel to leverage Sheridan's existing employment culture and drive transformational change to workplace practices that improve equity, the employee experience, and business results.
  • Lead the Employee Relations Team in aligning and empowering them to be strategic HR experts who advise and position managers to achieve business outcomes.
  • Develop and implement organization-wide policies and procedures at a senior level, with a focus on employee health, safety, wellness, and workplace abilities.
  • Advocate for and promote strategic, College-wide workplace wellbeing actions, shifting workplace practices, and driving initiatives that support Sheridan's Strategic Plan and HR strategy.

Requirements

  • 4-year Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Labour Studies, Business, or a related field.
  • Progressive HR experience, including 4 years in a leadership capacity, managing labour relations in a multi-union environment.
  • HR experience in the academic or public sector is preferred.
  • Certified HR Professional or Leader designation (CHRL or CHRP).
  • Investigation training is an asset.
