Job Title: Medical Health Officer

Job Summary:

The Medical Health Officer (MHO) is a key leadership position at Fraser Health, responsible for providing strategic oversight and management of Public Health programs and services. The MHO works in partnership with Clinical Directors to provide leadership on public health issues, including communicable diseases, environmental health, and non-communicable disease prevention and health promotion.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic leadership on public health issues, including communicable diseases, environmental health, and non-communicable disease prevention and health promotion.
  • Work in partnership with Clinical Directors to provide leadership on public health issues and programs.
  • Develop and implement public health policies and programs to promote health and prevent disease.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers, community organizations, and government agencies to promote health and prevent disease.
  • Provide leadership on health equity and social determinants of health.
  • Develop and implement strategies to address health disparities and promote health equity.
  • Provide leadership on emergency preparedness and response.
  • Develop and implement plans to respond to public health emergencies.
Qualifications:
  • Medical degree and eligibility for a full license to practice medicine in British Columbia.
  • Master's degree in Health Sciences or equivalent qualifications.
  • FRCP(C) in Public Health and Preventive Medicine/Community Medicine.
  • Experience in health program administration and management, including serving on medical advisory committees and program management responsibility.
  • Proven ability to exercise independent judgment, action, and discretion in the carrying out of responsibilities.
