Job Summary

Fraser Health is seeking a highly skilled Medical Health Officer to lead our Public Health programs and services. As a key member of our leadership team, you will provide strategic oversight and management of our Public Health initiatives, working closely with Clinical Directors and other stakeholders to achieve our goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out legislated requirements of the Public Health Act and other relevant legislation, including communicable disease prevention and control.
  • Provide strong clinical leadership and joint decision-making accountability for the delivery of Public Health regional programs and services.
  • Work collaboratively with Fraser Health staff, physicians, municipal councils, school boards, and other government ministries to address public health issues.
  • Monitor and assess the health status of the community, making recommendations for strategies to address health issues and providing leadership on implementing immediate actions when necessary.
  • Develop and implement programs to address emerging health issues, including community health planning, evaluation, research, and program development.
Requirements
  • Medical Degree and eligibility for a full license to practice medicine in British Columbia.
  • Master's in Health Sciences or equivalent qualifications.
  • FRCP(C) in Public Health and Preventive Medicine/Community Medicine.
  • Experience with health program administration and management, including serving on medical advisory committees and program management responsibility.
  • Proven ability to exercise independent judgment, action, and discretion in carrying out responsibilities.
