About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Field Specialist to join our team at WSP Canada. As a key member of our Contaminated Sites team, you will be responsible for conducting environmental fieldwork, including groundwater monitoring, soil sampling, and site assessments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct site-specific health and safety risk assessments and develop mitigation plans
  • Identify and report potential and existing site hazards, near loss incidents, and loss incidents
  • Collect and handle soil and groundwater samples, and maintain accurate field notes
  • Carry out fieldwork, including groundwater monitoring, K-test data collection and analysis, soils sampling, and subcontractor supervision
  • Supervise subcontractors for ground disturbance and utility location, surveying, borehole drilling, groundwater monitoring well installation, and test pit excavation
  • Oversee remedial contractors, including directing remedial excavations, waste tracking, and progress reporting
  • Prepare and coordinate project documentation, subcontractors, and equipment for field programs
  • Filing and managing all project-related field notes, including data entry and report preparation
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in environmental, hydrogeology, or other related sciences
  • 2-5 years of applicable experience in environmental fieldwork, including Phase I and II ESAs, drilling, surveying, groundwater sampling, and remediation
  • Positive and enthusiastic attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to work with little supervision
  • Strong awareness of health and safety issues and a safety-conscious attitude
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with particular attention to detail and accuracy of field notes
  • A valid driver's license
