Transportation Support Personnel

The Transportation Support Personnel (TSP) is a vital member of the Natrona County School team, responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of students with special needs. This role requires a high level of attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and school staff.
Key Responsibilities- Administer first aid and medications as needed to meet immediate health care needs.
- Assess potential emergency situations on the bus/MPV and within loading and unloading zones to take appropriate action to protect the well-being of passengers.
- Assist students with special needs during transport, safe loading and unloading from buses, including both emergency situations and normal transport.
- Attend meetings, such as classroom and behind-the-wheel training, in-service, safety, etc., to receive and/or convey information to perform job functions.
- Drive district MPV as needed to transport passengers over scheduled routes to and from school and/or field trips in a safe, efficient, and on-schedule manner.
- Instruct students on necessary guidance regarding rules and regulations, emergency processes, safety measures, etc., to enforce rules/regulations and maintain safety.
- Maintain strict confidentiality on personnel and student issues, such as personnel records, medical records, surveillance videos and images, student data, confidential communication, etc., to protect personal information for staff and students.
- Maintain cleanliness of bus/MPV, including cleaning windshields, mirrors, interior/exterior of bus/MPV, picking up debris, sweeping floor, wiping upholstery, etc., to maintain appearance, sanitation, and safety of vehicle.
- Monitor students to assess issues, disagreements, student distress, etc., to prevent distraction to the driver or injury to themselves or other students/passengers.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, such as fluid levels, tire pressure, exterior conditions, etc., to ensure the safe operating condition of the MPV vehicle and comply with mandated guidelines.
- Prepare written materials, such as incident reports, passenger misconduct, etc., to document activities, provide written reference, and/or convey information.
- Report observations and/or incidents, such as discipline, inappropriate social behavior, etc., to communicate information to appropriate personnel.
- Respond to inquiries, such as students, parents, other school personnel, etc., to provide information and/or direction.
- Secure students and/or equipment, such as restraints, tie-downs, wheelchairs, seat belts, etc., to ensure the safety and well-being of students.
- High school graduation or GED
