Job Title:

Early Childhood Educator

Job Summary:

We are seeking a qualified Early Childhood Educator to join our team at Pladec Day Care Centre. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Bathe, diaper and feed infants and toddlers
  • Develop and implement child-care programs
  • Supervise staff, trainees or volunteers
  • Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs and taking children to local points of interest
  • Order supplies and equipment
  • Engage children in activities
  • Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods
  • Establish guidelines for behaviour
  • Attend staff meetings
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers
  • Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children
  • Plan and organize activities for school-age children
  • Supervise and co-ordinate activities of other early childhood educators and assistants
Requirements:
  • Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years
  • Experience: 2 years to less than 3 years
Work Setting:

Day care centre or nursery school

  • Member of the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE)
  • Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate
  • First Aid Certificate
  • CPR Certificate
