Job Summary

The Facilities Maintenance Engineering Intern at CN plays a pivotal role in expanding the company's monitoring capabilities by leveraging Internet of Things (IoT) concepts. This position involves analyzing abnormalities in captured data to provide valuable insights. As part of the Monitoring and Business Intelligence Team, the successful candidate will contribute to the remote monitoring of critical assets across North America, utilizing cutting-edge technologies to monitor energy and demand, electrical power systems reliability, and equipment performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze electrical Power Quality (PQ) alarms generated daily to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Collaborate with engineers on energy analysis and modeling to optimize energy efficiency.
  • Assist facilities management staff with monitoring system maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Identify key anomalies in asset health and develop strategies for improvement.
  • Support engineers in performing measurements and verifications on energy conservation projects.
  • Develop technical documents such as equipment specifications, network diagrams, and industry standards.
  • Conduct research on data analysis to enhance asset health and propose innovative solutions.
  • Promote the expansion of monitoring capabilities by implementing industry-standard IoT technologies.
  • Design and develop new SCADA pages based on Facilities team requirements.
  • Utilize tools like Power BI and Tableau to create dynamic reports and presentations.
Requirements
  • Experience in power systems, including basic electrical theory, interpreting electrical single-line drawings, and Power Factor calculations.
  • Understanding of Transmission Control Protocol and Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) networking concepts.
  • Background in a power systems role is essential.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel's Data Analysis package.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Preference will be given to candidates pursuing a career in power systems, clean energy, or controls.
Education
  • Working towards a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or mechanical engineering with a focus on Mechatronics.
Estimated Salary Range:

$65,000 - $90,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
