About the Role

The Building Maintenance Technician III is responsible for performing maintenance and repair services on non-technical facility components, including general handyman-type work such as walls and floors. This role requires the ability to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair non-technical facility components, as well as provide observations about facility conditions and deficiencies and suggest enhancements and repairs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform work in accordance with established processes and practices.
  • Comply with all internal and external requirements, including environmental, health and safety, and fire protection.
  • Perform regular facility and facility non-technical component monitoring and inspection.
  • Provide observations about facility conditions and deficiencies and suggest enhancements and repairs.
  • Monitor assigned facility by conducting facility walkthroughs and facility non-technical component monitoring and inspection.
  • Respond to routine and on-demand service requests.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repair work to non-technical components within the facility.
  • Record resolution data within the service maintenance management database.
  • Ensure work completed meets quality, contract response, and all other requirements.
  • Assist in the implementation of preventative maintenance (PM) programs.
  • Participate in and assist with facility-related projects.
  • Ensure the manner in which work is performed is in compliance with corporate and legislated policies, procedures, practices, and guidelines related to environmental, health and safety, fire protection, and any other applicable requirements.
  • Maintain all assigned tools and arrange for repair and replacement where required.
  • Submit all expenditures on a timely basis.
  • Assist in enhancing tenant and customer satisfaction and maintaining positive relations through the manner in which work is performed and services delivered.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1-3 years of facility operations and maintenance work experience.
  • High school diploma.
  • Trade-related training an asset.
  • Ability to adhere to and properly execute processes and practices relating to facility operations and maintenance.
  • Ability to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair non-technical facility components.
  • Ability to provide observations about facility conditions and deficiencies and suggest enhancements and repairs.
  • Ability to research, learn, and gain greater proficiency in applying on-the-job fire, life, safety, and building codes and standards.
  • Possesses a strong environmental, health, and safety mindset and ability to perform work in a safe manner.
  • Strong client-service orientation along with a high sense of urgency.
  • Effective communication skills for the purpose of data relay, exchange, feedback, and clarification.

Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation

  • Demonstrates an interest in enrolling and completing a trades certification or license or beginning to work towards a trades certification or license.
  • Valid drivers' license.
