Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Infrastructure Development Specialist to join our team at Anishinabek Employment & Training Services. As an Infrastructure Development Specialist, you will play a key role in supporting our organization's mission to provide technical advisory services, training, and capacity development to First Nations communities in Ontario.

Key Responsibilities
  • Shadow housing inspection services to gain hands-on experience within Indigenous communities.
  • Assist with the preparation of inspection reports and provide support to the Infrastructure Specialist in activities related to the annual or periodic inspections of community facilities.
  • Develop an understanding of the procedures and protocols in dealing with First Nation communities, government bureaucracies, and agencies.
  • Provide research on new technology and methods of construction and capacity development.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of Client records and evaluations.
Requirements
  • College Diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architectural Technology/Technician, or another related specialty.
  • Some working knowledge of the Ontario or National Building Code (training may be provided for individuals meeting the educational requirements to get Building Code Qualified through the Ontario Building Officials Association (OBOA)).
  • Construction Experience is considered an asset.
  • Ability to be a team player and work independently when required.
  • Willing to take additional training, as required.
  • Knowledge of technical terminology as it relates to Infrastructure.
  • Some out-of-town traveling is required through the province of Ontario.
  • Reliable and insured vehicle and Valid Class G Ontario driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • First Nations applicants who meet the mandatory requirements.
  • Proof of two full doses of a Health Canada-approved COVID-19 vaccination.
