About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Medical Team Member to join our Cardiac Surgery department at Nova Scotia Health. As an Associate Physician, you will be responsible for providing medical care under the supervision of a fully licensed physician.

Key Responsibilities
  • You will function as a member of the team on the Cardiac Surgery Service, making regular rounds with supervising staff and fellow residents on the wards and in the CVICU.
  • You will assist at surgical procedures and perform appropriate portions of the procedure within your demonstrated competence, under direct attending supervision.
  • You will work with attending staff, nurses, and Residents, and other members of the healthcare team in the development of the overall patient care program.
  • You will communicate with patients, families, referring, and family physicians concerning patient management plans.
About You

To succeed in this role, you must have:

  • The requirements to obtain a Clinical Assistant License from The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia.
  • Obtained (in writing) Review of Qualifications from The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia prior to application deadline.
  • CMPA coverage.
  • ACLS certification.
  • A good command of written and spoken English.
  • The ability to promote and maintain good interpersonal skills.

This is a permanent full-time position with a salary range of $51.67-$65.80 per hour. Successful candidates may also be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
