Cardiac Surgery Assistant

The Interior Health Authority is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Associate Physician to join our KGH Cardiac Surgery team. As a Surgical Assistant, you will work closely with our multidisciplinary team to provide exceptional patient care and support.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist in the preparation and positioning of patients for cardiac surgery procedures
• Help with the opening and closing of the chest, cannulation/decannulation for Cardio-pulmonary Bypass, and assist the surgeon during the operation
• Support the care of patients outside of the operating room, including ensuring patients are ready for surgery, rounding on post-operative patients, and communicating with the Cardiac Surgery Nurse Practitioner and other healthcare professionals
Requirements:
• Strong clinical skills and experience in cardiac surgery
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively
