About the Role

Sensity Deafblind and Sensory Support Network of Canada is seeking a Part Time Intervenor to support individuals who are deafblind in their daily lives. As an Intervenor, you will play a vital role in empowering independence and promoting communication for individuals with dual sensory impairment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support individuals in their home and community environments to promote independence and daily living skills.
  • Use communication techniques to relay information and facilitate effective communication.
  • Empower individuals to participate and be successful in all aspects of daily living, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, house cleaning, and volunteerism.
  • Provide personal care as required, including lifts and transfers, toileting, personal hygiene, medication administration, and other tasks.
  • Assist in developing and supporting individual goals and objectives.
  • Contribute to program development and ensure documentation and records are complete.
Requirements
  • Completion of a college diploma or certificate in the Intervenor for Deafblind Persons program or a related human services field.
  • Experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities and challenging behaviors.
  • Experience supporting individuals with mental health conditions.
  • Communication skills in American Sign Language (ASL) or Signed Exact English (SEE).
  • A valid driver's license, access to a reliable vehicle, a clean current driver's abstract, and the ability to obtain automobile insurance with a minimum liability of $2 million.
