Job Summary

The Clinical Extern will work collaboratively with a healthcare team under the supervision of a registered healthcare professional. This part-time role involves working varied shifts, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends.

Responsibilities
  • Work under the supervision of a registered healthcare professional to provide patient care and support.
  • Assist with patient assessments and participate in care planning.
  • Provide assistance with daily living activities, such as lifting, transferring, and ambulating patients.
  • Assist with patient recreation activities, including reading, conversations, and technology assistance.
  • Report changes in patient condition to the registered healthcare professional.
  • Assist with rounding and responding to patient requests.
  • Document patient care and maintain accurate records.
  • Assist with obtaining supplies and stocking units.
  • Participate as a team member and collaborate with other healthcare professionals.
Qualifications
  • Students enrolled in approved nursing, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, or respiratory therapy programs.
  • Internationally educated nurses who have initiated registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Minimum one year of previous employment in a healthcare setting with suitable references.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Internet.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and customer service orientation.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Other Requirements
  • Availability to work all shifts, including weekends and stat holidays.
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and dignity.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuing education.
