Job Title: Commercial Manager

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Commercial Manager to lead the commercial management and life-cycle maintenance for capital projects undertaken by the Capital Projects Group (CPG). The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring effective and efficient policies, procedures, and best practices are in place to achieve value for money.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the commercial management team throughout the contract lifecycle.
  • Interpret and clarify contractual terms and conditions, in collaboration with Legal Services.
  • Recommend procurement strategies consistent with overall strategic goals of the CPG Division.
  • Monitor commercial performance management through pro-active issue resolution, change requests/amendments, and standardized internal processes.
  • Produce commercial performance reports and maintain monthly, quarterly, and executive management reports.
  • Author and assist in the review and analysis of complex Capital Project tenders and contract documents.
  • Liaise and work collaboratively with Procurement Services and the corporate legal team.
  • Interact with and solicit input from Metrolinx Business Units, Stakeholders, and Vendors.
Requirements:
  • Completion of a degree in Civil Engineering, Contract/Construction Law, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated years of experience in commercial and claims management techniques and practices in a large multi-project complex construction and infrastructure environment.
  • Skilled in the development and communication of internal administration policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Extensive experience in the interpretation of contract law and Ontario legislation.
  • Management and leadership skills to manage departmental staff and lead projects.
