About the Role
As an Employee Relations Specialist - Indigenous Peoples at Scotiabank, you will play a critical role in fostering a culture of inclusivity and respect for Indigenous Peoples within our organization. This position requires a unique blend of cultural competence, employee relations expertise, and business acumen.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate and resolve medium to high-risk employee relations cases related to Indigenous Peoples, ensuring compliance with governing regulations, Bank policies, and processes.
- Act as a subject matter expert on Indigenous Peoples relations, providing value-added advice and coaching to employees, People Managers, and HR Business Partners.
- Conduct formal investigations into allegations of serious misconduct, collaborating with the Employment Law Group and Corporate Security as needed.
- Lead employee interviews, analyzing facts and presenting findings and recommendations to Senior Leadership to mitigate legal risk to the Bank.
- Collaborate with HR Business Partners to plan and deliver strategic initiatives, identifying trends and providing insights to Senior Leadership and HR Business Partners.
- Develop and maintain relationships with Indigenous Peoples groups and organizations, promoting a seamless and consistent experience for employees and People Managers with ER/LR issues and concerns.
- Stay up-to-date on regulatory requirements, Bank policies, and industry best practices related to Indigenous Peoples relations.
