About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Registered Pharmacy Technician to join our team at Nova Scotia Health. As a Pharmacy Practice Assistant, you will play a vital role in the provision of safe and competent patient care, ensuring the goals and needs of our patients are prioritized and individualized.

Responsibilities will include compounding of sterile and non-sterile dosage forms, dispensing drugs to inpatients and outpatients in unit dose, physician order entry, working with automation, inventory control, medication reconciliation, and CIVA systems. Preparation of chemotherapy doses, distributing narcotics, and participating in quality programs and patient safety initiatives are also key aspects of this role.

To be successful in this position, you will require a graduate degree from an accredited Pharmacy Technician Program, licensure and registration in Nova Scotia as a Pharmacy Technician, and a drug administration by injection technical permit. Experience as a pharmacy technician or pharmacy practice assistant, preferably in a hospital setting, is an asset. Knowledge of sterile technique, special precautions used with chemotherapy, and experience in unit dose drug distribution systems, automation technology, and decentralized medication dispensing cabinets are also highly valued.
