About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented individual to join our team at Thankful Too Seafood as a Fish Weigher. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate weighing and packing of fish and shellfish products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Transportation and Handling: Transport fish and shellfish to the work area, ensuring they are properly stored and handled to prevent damage.
  • Weighing and Packing: Weigh fish or shellfish, record the weight, and pack them in ice to maintain freshness.
  • Cleaning and Maintenance: Clean machines and immediate work areas to maintain a safe and healthy environment.
  • Sorting and Preparation: Sort fish according to species, weight, and destination, and disjoint and remove meat from lobsters or other crustaceans preparatory to canning or further processing.
Work Environment

As a Fish Weigher at Thankful Too Seafood, you will work in a fast-paced environment with a focus on quality and safety. You will be exposed to:

  • Noisy Conditions: The work area may be noisy due to machinery and equipment.
  • Odours and Wet/Damp Conditions: You will be working with fish and shellfish, which may result in exposure to strong odours and wet/damp conditions.
  • Cold/Refrigerated Environment: The work area will be maintained at a cold temperature to preserve the quality of the products.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Education: No degree, certificate, or diploma is required for this role.
  • Experience: We will provide training for the right candidate.
  • Physical Demands: This role requires standing for extended periods, handling heavy loads, and performing repetitive tasks.
  • Personal Suitability: We are looking for a team player with excellent oral communication skills, flexibility, and reliability.
Working Conditions and Physical Capabilities

This role requires:

  • Attention to Detail: You must be able to accurately weigh and record the weight of fish and shellfish.
  • Standing for Extended Periods: You will be required to stand for extended periods while working.
  • Handling Heavy Loads: You will be required to handle heavy loads of fish and shellfish.
  • Physically Demanding: This role is physically demanding and requires a high level of energy and stamina.
