Assistant/Associate Professor for the David Brand Professorship in Sustainable Forestry and Conservation Finance
Job Summary:The University of British Columbia's Faculty of Forestry invites applications for a tenure-stream position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor for the David Brand Professorship in Sustainable Forestry and Conservation Finance. The successful applicant will play a key role in research and teaching in the area of conservation finance and its increasing importance in advancing new ways to sustainably manage and restore forest ecosystems.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct research and teaching in conservation finance and its applications to sustainable forest management and restoration.
- Develop and implement innovative financial mechanisms for conservation and sustainable forest management.
- Collaborate with industry, NGOs, government, and Indigenous communities to advance conservation finance and sustainable forest management.
- Contribute to the development of policy and practice in conservation finance and sustainable forest management.
- PhD in environmental, forest, or natural resource finance/business, or equivalent fields.
- Expertise in conservation finance and its applications to sustainable forest management and restoration.
- Experience in teaching and research in conservation finance and sustainable forest management.
- Strong potential for scientific publishing and securing research grants.
- Experience with empirical social science research methods.
- Experience working with Indigenous and forest-dependent communities and/or other partners.
- Experience working internationally.
- Strong interest or experience in conducting collaborative work.
