AXA XL Americas has established a new business division, Middle Markets, to expand its offerings to Middle Market clients in the Canadian Commercial P&C market. As a Senior Underwriter, Middle Market, you will be responsible for establishing new broker and client relationships, underwriting Middle Market products, and supporting the growth of this new business.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the development and marketing of new products across GL, Property, Auto, Umbrella, and Environmental.
- Underwrite new and renewal business, assisting in achieving profitable premium and rate goals, working with actuarial and claims, and delivering results consistent with financial plans.
- Develop, maintain, and service broker relationships within the distribution model, coordinating with brokers to determine their marketing and education needs supported by AXA XL Middle Market.
- Interact directly with insureds, brokers, and producers, servicing accounts and brokers.
- Work collaboratively in a team environment, assisting underwriters, underwriting assistants, and the management team.
- Ensure high-quality service standards and compliance with all internal audit guidelines.
- Act as a representative of the company and our agents by attending internal/external company functions, agent-sponsored, and industry events.
- Meet with brokers and set annual targets, issue monthly status reports, monitor P&L against plan.
- Take initiative and proactively support broker and market interactions that support growth, meeting with customers and prospects to develop relationships, deliver Middle Market education, and support business targets.
About the Role
You will report to the Chief Underwriting Officer, Middle Market.
Requirements
- Outstanding knowledge of the Canadian insurance industry, combined with in-depth technical knowledge of insurance product offerings, and effective broker relationships within the Canadian market.
- Extensive Middle Market insurance experience (underwriting, claims, or insurance-related business development experience).
- Consistently pursue opportunities to differentiate AXA XL in the industry through our offerings and how we conduct business.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain robust insured and broker contacts.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with a focus on excellent customer service.
- Collaborative team player who provides creative solutions and ideas for resolution.
