Job Summary

The Ontario Municipal Social Services Association is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manager, Children's Services to lead the effective and efficient administration and delivery of the Children's Services program within the City and County of Peterborough. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for managing cross-functional teams, developing and implementing new programs and strategic change initiatives, business processes and standards to support the work of the Division and the Children Services program.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the planning, delivery, and evaluation of a wide range of programs and operational policies and procedures to support existing and new initiatives and services.
• Manage cross-functional teams, developing and implementing new programs and strategic change initiatives, business processes and standards to support the work of the Division and the Children Services program.
• Ensure compliance with legislation, policies, standards, and various service and operating agreements.
• Lead, design and develop both internal and external service integration and modernization planning through collaboration with members of planning tables, advisory and community groups.
• Design and lead stakeholder consultations to inform service planning, implementation of programs, and services delivered by the Division.
• Coordinate, monitor and approve purchase of service agreements and lead request for proposal processes.

Requirements

• A minimum 4-year University Degree in Social Sciences and a minimum 7 years related social services management experience.
• Experience working in the child care and early years sector and comprehensive knowledge of the Child Care and Early Years Act is ideal.
• Strong leadership, management, and team building skills; proven interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills; the ability to effectively coach, motivate, and coordinate the work of others; the ability to support and facilitate positive work relationships in a unionized environment; good public and employee relations skills.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving skills, project management, planning, financial management/budgeting and forecasting skills.
• Extensive knowledge of relevant legislation including but not limited to the Child Care and Early Years Act, Child and Family Services Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act.
