Job Summary

The Ontario Municipal Social Services Association is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the role of Manager, Children's Services. This position is responsible for the effective and efficient administration and delivery of the Children's Services program within the City and County of Peterborough.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee the planning, delivery, and evaluation of a wide range of programs and operational policies and procedures to support existing and new initiatives and services.
  • Manage cross-functional teams, developing and implementing new programs and strategic change initiatives, business processes and standards to support the work of the Division and the Children Services program.
  • Ensure compliance with legislation, policies, standards, and various service and operating agreements.
  • Design and lead stakeholder consultations to inform service planning, implementation of programs, and services delivered by the Division.
  • Coordinate, monitor and approve purchase of service agreements and lead request for proposal processes.

Requirements
  • Minimum 4 year University Degree in Social Sciences.
  • Minimum 7 years related social services management experience.
  • Experience working in the child care and early years sector and comprehensive knowledge of the Child Care and Early Years Act is ideal.
  • Strong leadership, management, and team building skills.
  • Proven interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively coach, motivate, and coordinate the work of others.
  • Ability to support and facilitate positive work relationships in a unionized environment.
  • Good public and employee relations skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving skills, project management, planning, financial management/budgeting and forecasting skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of relevant legislation including but not limited to the Child Care and Early Years Act, Child and Family Services Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act.
