Job Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Dedicated Custodial Professional to join our team at FirstService Residential.

About the Role

This is a full-time opportunity that requires you to work Saturdays and Sundays, from 8am to 4:30pm. As a Dedicated Custodial Professional, your primary responsibility will be to maintain the cleanliness of all interior and exterior areas of the property.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and service restrooms, including cleaning toilets, sinks, and mirrors;
  • Sweep, vacuum, and mop floors and stairways to ensure they are clean and safe for occupants;
  • Gather and dispose of rubbish and waste materials by hand or with the use of powered equipment;
  • Report any needed repairs, safety hazards, or conditions requiring outside vendor services to management;
  • Dust such items as blinds, furniture, file cabinets, door frames, railing picture frames, and windowsills using treated dust mittens, cloths, or hand-cleaning items;
  • Polish furniture, metal work, and chrome using appropriate cleaning and polishing compounds;
  • Maintain an inventory of cleaning and toiletry supplies;
  • Wash walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, mirror, and fixtures using both step and extension ladders;
  • Clean grounds and parking lots of litter, glass, or other debris;
  • Load and unload supplies, and move heavy furniture and equipment using dollies, handcarts, or power equipment;
  • Replace light bulbs and fuses;
  • Perform ground maintenance, including removal of snow from front entrances and salting front entrances;
  • Assist in the moving of garbage bins when needed;
  • Maintain and clean the compactor room.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of standard methods, practices, tools, and equipment of the janitorial service;
  • Knowledge of the proper use of chemicals, fertilizers, and pesticides;
  • Ability to follow instructions;
  • Ability to operate and use janitorial tools, equipment, and supplies, such as floor buffers, vacuum cleaners, and cleaning compounds and solutions;
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.;
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety rules and regulations;
  • Knowledge of building and property security procedures;
  • Ability to explain instructions and guidelines to others effectively;
  • Ability to prioritize the work of others.

Compensation

The estimated salary for this position is $18 per hour, based on the location in Burlington, ON.
