About the Role

The Shaft and Hoist Superintendent position offers a unique opportunity to provide strategic direction for all hoisting operations. Key responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing maintenance of hoist plants and shaft activities, as well as the HST rail haulage system.
  • Providing strategic and active direction for all hoisting operations.
  • Preparing and managing annual budgets to achieve targets.
  • Developing and implementing a shaft and HST optimization plan.
  • Ensuring compliance with federal and provincial acts, regulations, and legal requirements.
  • Leading and coaching direct reports to improve operation and maintenance practices in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Providing training to keep employees current and improve flexibility.
About You

As a successful candidate, you will have a Secondary School Diploma or equivalent experience. You will also need to demonstrate:

  • Completion of underground Supervisory Common Core Certificate (preferred).
  • Certified and competent in hoisting, rigging, and suspended loads.
  • Experience in an underground mine, with operations and/or maintenance experience.
  • Experience in a Supervisor role, with a solid background in hoist maintenance.
  • Well-developed ability to comprehend and interpret operations manuals.
  • Knowledgeable in Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations for Mines and Mining Plants, and familiar with underground mining environments.
