Operations Superintendent reports to the General Manager, Joffre.

This position is located in **(Joffre, Alberta, Canada) and is not** available for remote work.

**What you will do**:

- Ensure the safe and efficient operation of a 1450 MTPD Haldor Topsoe designed Ammonia Plant
- Ensure the safe and efficient rail loading at Chigwell Distribution Terminal
- Confirm rigorous systems and operating practices are in place, followed, and reviewed to ensure continuous improvement in safety, process safety, reliability and efficiency
- Provide excellent leadership to the Operations and Loadout Teams and the site as part of the Joffre Management Team
- Confirm employees receive the required technical training to safely do their job
- Support the development of site goals and priorities including input to the site budget, capital plan, and PSM roadmap/reliability plan and maintain long-term strategic plan, annual execution plan (AEP), and continuous improvement plan (CIP)
- Work with maintenance, engineering, and safety personnel to optimize unit performance. This includes supporting the prioritization of routine, non-routine & turnaround maintenance, as well as capital projects
- Work with other Nutrien sites and the Engineering Technology and Capital Group as Joffre’s Operation’s representative. This includes providing input to Nutrien standards and ensuring the Joffre site is meeting all standards
- Provide technical support & guidance to operations, maintenance and engineering to optimize plant performance, capital projects, etc.
- Play a key role in the Site’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) in the event of a serious environmental or safety accident
- Establish meaningful network relationships with external stakeholders with NOVA, Linde Canada, and MEGlobal to ensure consistent and reliable feedstock supply
- Execute the responsibilities outlined within the Operation Risk Management Program

**What you will bring**:

- Experience in progressively more senior operating positions in an operating plant environment, preferentially in a nitrogen fertilizer, chemical, petro-chemical, or related continuous process operations. Knowledge of the nitrogen fertilizer process is desirable.
- Minimum 2nd class steam ticket, in good standing with ABSA, or an engineering degree in chemical, process, or mechanical engineering, in good standing with APEGA
- Proven and demonstrated leadership ability
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate change and communicate effectively
- Must be willing to relocate, if necessary, to respond to plant operational emergencies within 30 minutes
