The successful candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining a variety of machine tools, including computer numerically controlled (CNC) tools, to perform precision machining operations.
Key Responsibilities:- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and charts to determine the machining operation to be performed and plan the best sequence of operations.
- Compute dimensions and tolerances, measure and lay out work pieces.
- Set up, operate, and maintain CNC machine tools to perform precision machining operations.
- Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments.
- Set up and program machine tools for use by machining tool operators.
- Ensure all documentation is properly filled out, control allocated time on components, route sheets, and equipment maintenance records.
- Reporting on quality and operational issues within the department to the department supervisor.
- Interfaces with internal customers and other internal departments to ensure timely delivery of custom machined parts.
- Possess knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.
- Promote a safe environment and ensure safety while handling workpieces.
- Ensure daily maintenance and cleaning of equipment for efficient function and to minimize downtime, identify equipment problems, and communicate solutions as required or needed.
- At least 1 year of experience as a machinist, specifically with CNC programming experience.
- Completed secondary school or have a credential assessment confirming equivalency.
- Possess knowledge of AutoCAD and Alibre design software.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
