HORIBA Canada Inc. is a leading manufacturer of analytical and scientific instruments, with a location in London, Ontario. We are seeking a highly skilled Precision Machinist Specialist to join our team.

Job Overview

The successful candidate will be responsible for operating computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools to perform precision machining operations, including sawing, turning, milling, boring, planning, drilling, and precision grinding. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts, and tables to determine the machining operation to be performed and plan the best sequence of operations;
  • Compute dimensions and tolerances, measure and lay out work pieces;
  • Set up, operate, and maintain a variety of machine tools, including CNC tools, to perform precision machining operations;
  • Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments;
  • Set up and program machine tools for use by machining tool operators;
  • Evaluate and recommend maintenance and repair of equipment as required;
  • Communicate effectively with internal customers and other internal departments to ensure timely delivery of custom machined parts;
  • Possess knowledge of higher-level Machining Specialist machines prototypes components (parts) used in the assembly and testing of R&D projects;
  • Promote a safe environment and ensure safety while handling workpieces;
Requirements:

The applicant must have at least 1 year of experience as a machinist, specifically with CNC programming experience. A minimum of secondary school or an equivalent credential assessment is required. Completion of a 2-year Electromechanical Engineering Technician course is an asset. Proficiency with AutoCAD and Alibre design software is also required. Successful candidates must be fluent in English.
