Job Summary

We are seeking a seasoned Occupational Hygiene Specialist to join our Exposure Prevention team within Safety and Well-being at Fraser Health. This role will work as part of a team to implement an advanced respiratory protection project, focused on the use of Powered Air-Purifying Respirators (PAPRs) to safeguard healthcare workers from airborne hazards. The successful candidate will anticipate, recognize, evaluate, and control chemical, biological, and physical stresses in the work environment.

The selected individual will develop, implement, and evaluate authority-wide Occupational Hygiene policies and programs. They will provide leadership to provincial, organizational, and operational leaders and clinical staff in the development, implementation, and evaluation of facility design standards, education and training, and equipment/product selection.

This is a 9-month temporary Full-Time position that will involve travel across sites within our Health Authority.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate Fraser Health policies, regional programs, procedures, and protocols for preventing exposures arising in or from the workplace.
  • Interpret and provide direction to senior leadership, managers, and the Safety & Well-being team on the Workers Compensation Act, Occupational Health and Safety Regulation, and related federal regulations and standards.
  • Conduct literature reviews and research to develop and implement evidence-based best practices across Fraser Health and Provincial programs.
