About the Role

At TC Transcontinental, we are seeking a seasoned Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) professional to join our team as an EHS Leader. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for driving excellence in facility safety, implementing best-in-class safety programs, and providing expert guidance on regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop and implement comprehensive safety strategies to mitigate risks and ensure a safe working environment for all employees;
  2. Lead investigations into workplace incidents, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions;
  3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and maintain policies, procedures, and training programs that meet or exceed regulatory requirements;
  4. Maintain accurate records and reports related to safety performance, including incident reporting and regulatory compliance;
  5. Provide expert guidance and support to management and employees on EHS-related matters, including policy interpretation and implementation;
  6. Serve as a subject matter expert on regulatory compliance, staying up-to-date on changes and developments in EHS legislation and standards;
  7. Cultivate and maintain relationships with external partners, vendors, and stakeholders to ensure seamless communication and collaboration;
  8. Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify areas for improvement and develop strategies to address gaps and vulnerabilities;
  9. Develop and deliver training programs and materials to promote employee awareness and understanding of EHS principles and practices;
  10. Work collaboratively with other departments to integrate EHS considerations into business decisions and strategic planning processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Business Administration, or a related field;
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in EHS leadership roles, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting;
  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation or equivalent certification;
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse audiences and stakeholders;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collect and analyze data, identify trends, and develop recommendations;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications;
  • Familiarity with industry regulations, such as the Occupational Health and Safety Act, MOL Regulations, and Environmental Protection Act;
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team, with a high level of autonomy and flexibility.
