Job Title: Data Engineer

YWCA Toronto Employment Centre is supporting our employer partner in filling this position.

Due to our funding requirements, we cannot consider international students at this time.

The CanCap Group is a privately-owned Canadian national financial services company with multiple verticals across automotive, consumer, and merchant lending portfolios. We manage the entire lifecycle of the finance receivable from credit adjudication through to contract administration, customer service, default management, and post-charge-off recoveries.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Designing and implementing data management strategies through:
  2. Translating complex functional, technical, and business requirements into architectural designs and solutions
  3. Understanding, applying, and recommending architecture principles in the context of current needs with the appropriate consideration for future growth
  4. Making and clearly articulating linkages between stakeholder needs and enterprise needs and constraints
  5. Developing the data standards and processes based on industry best practices ensuring that the concepts are communicated and accepted across the enterprise
  6. Devising and implementing efficient and secure procedures for data handling, analysis, and delivery with attention to all technical aspects

Requirements:

  • Background in the Financial Services industry coupled with prior experience of working with origination and servicing data from auto finance, personal loans, and credit cards
  • Minimum of seven (7) years' experience working in data analytics, SQL management, database design, requirements analysis, information delivery, and in a 24x7 production environment
  • Familiarity with data analysis, data mining, source to target mapping, data domain and referential integrity verifications
  • Strong work experience with database security, data ingestion and manipulation, business-to-business processes, ETL, reporting
  • Seasoned experience in identifying and analyzing business requirements integrated with business vision, strategy, and roadmaps
  • Collaborative abilities to build and develop relationships with key internal stakeholders
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills in a timely manner
  • A proven record of innovation and enterprise technology support
  • Excellent organizational skills; can balance several projects concurrently; highly effective at time management and setting priorities
  • Deep capacity to thrive in a dynamic, changing business environment
  • Passionate desire to influence and impact change; proven ability to manage and develop high-performing team members
  • Fluent ability to communicate business information in English
  • Motivation and drive towards continuous learning and growth within your role and the company

Preferred Qualifications:

  • SQL Server Design and Management and SSRS (minimum 7+ years)
  • PowerBI - architecture and development
  • Writing SQL code, Functions, Procedures, Data Ingestion and Extraction
  • SSIS Design and package implementation
  • Data management, notably where support was provided to cross-functional business units within the organization e.g. risk, finance, operations, sales

Location:

Our office is located in downtown Toronto. Successful candidates will have the ability to participate in our hybrid work policy.
