Job Summary:

Friesens Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Lead Bindery Machine Operator to join our team. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for directing team members, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of equipment, and producing high-quality products to meet customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct team members to ensure the safe and efficient operation of equipment
  • Set up and operate bindery machines, including encasers, perfect binders, multiplex machines, saddle stitchers, and shrink wrappers
  • Make running adjustments as needed to produce high-quality products
  • Troubleshoot basic machine performance and make necessary adjustments
  • Provide work instructions to support staff and call for additional maintenance resources as needed

Requirements:

  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Minimum 1 year experience as a book binding machine operator
  • Basic machine troubleshooting and maintenance experience
  • Effective English use and comprehension
  • Digital Literacy (Microsoft Office, keyboarding skills)
  • Essential Math Skills (Metric and Imperial measurements, problem solving, conversion charts, etc)
  • Ability to detect, isolate, and identify irregularities and malfunctions in machinery, equipment, and product
  • Organization, prioritizing, time, and stress management skills
  • Able to operate the required machinery/equipment in a safe and responsible manner
  • Ability to operate and use small tools
  • Continuous learning/improvement mindset
  • Must be able to work in a team-oriented environment while demonstrating self-management capabilities
  • Able to deal with people diplomatically and professionally at all times
  • Excellent manual dexterity
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts
  • Must be willing to work at all Friesens facilities as needed
  • Knowledge of workplace safety, safe lifting, and handling procedures

Working Conditions:

The Lead Bindery Machine Operator will work in a fast-paced production environment with frequent exposure to noise, dust, and other hazards. The ability to work safely and efficiently in this environment is essential.
