About the Role
Ville de Pointe-Claire is seeking a highly skilled Technical Officer to join our team. As a Technical Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring the longevity and proper functioning of all public facilities, equipment, and buildings.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct studies, research, and analyses to estimate the cost of repairs and alterations, and develop equipment and tooling maintenance programs or projects.
- Prepare and evaluate drawings and specifications for projects, repair and alteration work, or equipment and tooling maintenance programs in coordination with specialists from other disciplines.
- Draw up construction, renovation, or demolition cost estimates by performing the appropriate calculations and assessing the amount of materials and labour required.
- Analyze architectural, carpentry, mechanical, electronic, and other drawings to ensure their coordination and orientation toward the mechanical portion of the building.
- Produce building specifications taking account of each appropriate discipline.
- Draft contract documents and prepare calls for tender, specifying the execution dates and details following consultation with the departments concerned.
- Conduct follow-up and inspections for final acceptance of the work and determine whether corrections are required.
- Participate in project planning, design, development, control, and monitoring work, and represent the professional as needed.
- Design and draft instruction manuals, maintenance programs, and standards, estimate costs, and manage systems.
- Prepare site meeting minutes and follow up, finding solutions to unforeseen issues encountered during the work.
Requirements
- A college diploma from a program of study in the appropriate field.
- Two (2) years of relevant work experience or any other combination of education and experience considered equivalent based on the established policy.
- Bilingualism (spoken and written French and English).
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project or equivalent, and computer-assisted drawings (AutoCAD).
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence.
- Tactful, calm, and courteous.
- Autonomous.
- Team player.
- Problem-solving and decision-making skills and good judgment.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail.
