Low Vision Specialist

At Vision Loss Rehabilitation Canada, we are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Specialist, Low Vision to join our team. As a Specialist, Low Vision, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality services to individuals with vision loss.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct comprehensive functional low vision assessments to identify individuals' visual needs and develop personalized plans to maximize their residual vision.
- Teach individuals with partial sight how to use prescribed low vision devices and optical aids to enhance their daily living skills.
- Recommend and train individuals in the use of adaptive technology and assistive devices to promote independence and quality of life.
- Provide education and support to individuals and their families on vision health, low vision services, and related topics.
- Collaborate with community-based rehabilitation teams, agencies, schools, and healthcare professionals to ensure seamless service delivery and promote awareness about vision health.
- Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders to promote the organization's mission and services.
- Stay up-to-date with new technologies, techniques, and best practices in low vision rehabilitation to provide evidence-based services.
- Master's degree in a relevant field, such as health care or vision, or equivalent experience.
- ACVREP certification or eligibility for certification.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- French language skills are an asset.
The Specialist, Low Vision will work in office centers, individual homes, and the community, with a willingness to travel and work flexible hours.
