Welder-Line Boring Technician Role

At Toromont Cat, we're seeking a skilled Welder-Line Boring Technician to join our team. As a key member of our Service department, you'll provide technical expertise to ensure exceptional customer service in the maintenance, repair, and fabrication of parts and structures in our shop.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate electric, acetylene, and semi-automatic welding and automatic burning equipment effectively and efficiently.
  • Perform line-boring on heavy equipment in shop alongside experienced technicians to restore equipment to factory specification.
  • Fabricate structures from drawings or sketches.
  • Maintain quality workmanship to repair Caterpillar equipment within established time standards in the shop and field.
  • Restore damaged steel and cast iron components by welding, dissembling, and assembling relative components.
  • Maintain an inventory of materials used for fabrication.
  • Maintain and build strong customer relations.
  • Execute repairs in the field using mobile welding and line-boring equipment.
Requirements:
  • Post-secondary education with a Welder Certificate in GMAW, SMAW, and FCAW.
  • 3+ years as a professional welder.
  • Experience in repair of heavy construction or mining equipment (Strong Asset).
  • Line-boring or machining experience considered an asset.
  • Consideration will be made for journeyman millwright with extensive welding and machining experience.
