Job Title: Character Art Director

At TiMi Montreal, we're seeking a highly skilled Character Art Director to lead our team in creating a new AAA multi-platform game. As a key member of our studio, you'll be responsible for maintaining artistic direction and quality, producing high-quality characters and creatures, and collaborating with the animation and technical departments to ensure the character meets quality expectations.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain artistic direction and quality
  • Produce high-quality characters and creatures suitable technically and artistically with the project's universe and visual direction
  • Collaborate on setting artistic vision benchmarks and helping define the style, as well as maintaining quality standards across the entire development pipeline
  • Participate in reviews, adapt to, and implement feedback from stakeholders in a professional manner
  • Provide feedback and improvement to visual quality
  • Knowledge sharing
  • Support in HR collaboration as well as in recruitment efforts for character team
  • Work closely with Animation and Technical departments to ensure the character fulfills quality expectations
Requirements:
  • A portfolio of visionary, inspiring, industry-leading character work showcasing strong vision and skills
  • At least 8 years of professional experience with AAA game development
  • At least one AAA action title shipped
  • Ability to create believable characters that are full of life and personality
  • Artistically interpret concepts or creatively push beyond an initial ideation
  • Excellent understanding of art fundamentals (shape, form, texture, value, and color) and anatomical knowledge of both bipedal and quadrupedal form
  • Able to communicate effectively verbally and visually. Positive attitude and a desire to bring new ideas to the team.
  • A team player who knows how to get the best out of everyone on the project and not just within the art team.
