Position OverviewWe are seeking a seasoned professional to lead our Packaging Development and Sustainability strategy efforts. This role will be pivotal in driving the strategic development and execution of our sustainability and packaging initiatives, aligning with our brand's growth objectives, enhancing guest experiences, and meeting our Brand commitments.
Key Responsibilities:- Create and implement a comprehensive sustainability strategy and roadmap for Tim Hortons Canada & US, orchestrating initiatives across our pillars and adapting plans based on emerging risks and trends.
- Develop and execute packaging strategies that align with Tim Hortons' brand identity, product offerings, and sustainability goals, driving innovation in packaging materials, formats, and technologies.
- Lead a multidisciplinary team in the design, development, and testing of packaging solutions to support menu innovation, ensuring functionality, reducing environmental impact, and enhancing guest satisfaction.
- Manage vendor relationships to negotiate and align on product specifications, design parameters, and patents, materials, and drive innovation in packaging solutions.
- Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and performance metrics, tracking key milestones and deliverables, and work closely with Government Affairs to understand and comply with regulatory changes impacting our business.
- Stay informed of industry trends, consumer preferences, and regulatory requirements related to packaging materials, design, and sustainability, and work cross-functionally to implement solutions to advance our strategies.
- Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Materials Science, Food Science, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience leading packaging development and sustainability-related roles within the food and beverage industry, preferably in a quick-service restaurant environment.
- Demonstrated expertise in packaging materials, design principles, and manufacturing processes, with a strong focus on food safety and quality.
- Proven track record of leading successful sustainability projects from concept to commercialization, with a keen understanding of consumer insights and market trends.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards governing food packaging, including relevant certifications and sustainability initiatives.
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and drive results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Strategic thinker with a creative mindset, analytical prowess, and a passion for driving innovation and continuous improvement.
