We are seeking an experienced IT Infrastructure Support Specialist to join our team in Calgary, Alberta. As a key member of our infrastructure support team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our client's industrial information technology (IIT) infrastructure.

About the Job

The IT Infrastructure Support Specialist will work closely with our client's infrastructure team to deliver key IIT initiatives, identify infrastructure requirements, develop and maintain standards, and provide technical support and issue resolution. This role may require occasional on-site visits to Fort McMurray and some on-call support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Network Infrastructure Management: Review and manage the physical IIT network infrastructure, recommending improvements to ensure connectivity in a ISA99 compliant control system.
  • Vendor Collaboration: Work with third-party vendors to coordinate and support the development of IIT infrastructure designs and applications.
  • Software Systems Management: Review, manage, maintain, and operate software systems and services associated with the IIT environment as required.
  • Infrastructure Requirements: Ensure all IIT infrastructure requirements are clearly identified and documented.
  • Infrastructure Options Analysis: Use knowledge of hardware, software, and network technologies to analyze and recommend infrastructure options for growth.
  • Tech Standards and Compliance: Understand and ensure that new technology or services adhere to client's IIT environment and ISA 99 control system standards.
  • IIT Standards Development: Identify and establish IIT standards for development of on-going policies and procedures.
  • Risk Management: Identify risk and prevent the compromise of information security and misuse of IIT resources.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Ensure all aspects of the IIT infrastructure systems are effectively documented and support business objectives.
  • Technical Guidance: Provide technical guidance to support day-to-day IIT and client operations.
  • Budget Management: Assist in the management of IS budgets.
  • Team Collaboration: Provide technical guidance to IS Operations, Controls & Operations, and Operations & Maintenance team as required.
  • Issue Resolution: Act as the primary contact for IIT requests and coordinates with the appropriate technical team/vendors to ensure proper resolution.
  • Issue Tracking and Prioritization: Receive, track, and prioritize issues for resolution, resolving issues as expertise permits and/or escalating as required.
  • Change Management: Ensure system changes are planned and managed effectively.
  • Cyber Security: Ensure PCN infrastructure environment operates under cyber security best practices based on ISA 99 control system standards.
  • Continuous Improvement: Pursue ongoing development of customer service skills, technical skills, and product knowledge, identifying areas for continuous improvement.
  • Remote Site Support: Troubleshoot, research, test, and/or coordinate installs, upgrades, and outages at remote sites as required.

Requirements

  • Computer Science Degree or Equivalent: A computer science degree or equivalent certification or diploma and/or experience.
  • Infrastructure Support Experience: 5+ years of experience in an infrastructure support role.
  • Cisco Networking Experience: 5+ years' experience in Cisco networking (VLANS, EIRGP/OSPF, ring network topology, and security).
  • Specialized Experience: Experience working with Honeywell Experion PKS, Tofino firewalls, and Honeywell Fault Tolerant Ethernet (FTE) network.
  • NetApp SAN Configuration: Experience with NetApp SAN configuration, Active Directory, VMware, and UCS technologies.
  • SCADA, DCS, or PCN Systems: SCADA, DCS, or PCN systems with a good understanding of process control network architecture and ISA 99 control system standards.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work well with diverse personalities and workforce.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Priority Management: Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet the time demands of unpredictable activities.
  • Travel: Ability to travel to site post-pandemic.

  • PPE/H2S Alive Safety Certification: PPE/H2S Alive safety certifications.
  • Cisco Certifications: Cisco certifications: CCNA and CCNP Routing & Switching.
